Home design is in Mary’s DNA. Both her grandfather and great-grandfather were home builders in Kansas City in the 30s through the 50s, and her father designed her childhood home. While studying design in college, she met Joe, a carpenter and an architect student, and they were destined to be together. They rehabbed their 1910 Queen Anne Victorian home in Baldwin City, KS where they discovered their passion for blending modern functionality into period architecture. They’ve been remodeling homes – many historic – ever since.
Mary earned her NARI certifications as a Universal Design Certified Professional, Certified Remodeling Project Manager, and Certified Remodeler. She is the co-founder of Architectural Craftsmen Inc. where she oversees all aspects of the business: from marketing to sales, design to construction, project management to customer service. As the principal designer for the company, she is responsible for a project from concept to permitting. To make sure the project stays on track, she makes sure the design is carried out in the field as she designed. Her biggest thrill is walking onto the jobsite and seeing her vision become reality.
